Job Summary

Park Gate is looking for a Workshop Labourer to support our specialist electric motor rewind and repair department.

This is a hands-on role involving the preparation and painting of electric motors, pumps and gearboxes, cleaning mechanical parts and moving jobs around the workshop. You will also help keep our workshop and yard clean, organised and safe.

The role includes loading and unloading, with training provided for forklift truck work.

About the job

The successful applicant will help ensure that repaired motors and other equipment are properly prepared and painted to the required standard, while supporting the practical day-to-day needs of the workshop.

Alongside working on equipment, you will help maintain clear walkways, clean work areas and an orderly yard. Occasional duties include sorting scrap and packaging, replenishing stock, storing tools safely and maintaining records of safe working practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and paint electric motors, pumps, gearboxes and other equipment, including spray painting, to the required standard.
  • Clean and wash mechanical parts using high-pressure washers and degreasing stations.
  • Move jobs and parts around the workshop and assist with loading and unloading, including forklift truck work with training provided.
  • Keep the workshop and yard clean and tidy, including clearing walkways, sweeping floors and cleaning machines and the spray area.
  • Help with occasional sorting and disposal of scrap, waste and packaging, stock replenishment and the safe storage of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain records relating to safe working practices.
  • Follow Park Gate’s health and safety, quality and environmental procedures, wear appropriate protective equipment and report accidents or near misses.

About You

This role will suit someone who takes pride in practical work and keeping a workshop clean and organised. A careful approach to preparing and painting equipment, following safe working procedures and looking after tools is important.

You should be willing to attend training when required, use appropriate protective equipment and take care of your own safety and that of the people working around you.
