About the role
The Project Engineer will support electrical engineering projects from initial customer enquiry and tendering through to design, delivery and completion.
You will work closely with customers to understand their requirements through site visits, meetings, specifications and technical discussions before assessing the electrical requirements and helping prepare quotations.
Once projects are underway, you will support planning, technical design, coordination and delivery, liaising with customers and internal Park Gate teams to ensure work is completed to the required standard, programme and budget.
The role also includes the opportunity to develop knowledge of electrical control systems, CAD design and wider automation technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine customer requirements through site visits, meetings, specifications and technical discussions.
- Assess electrical requirements and prepare or support customer quotations.
- Create high-quality CAD drawings for electrical control systems.
- Support and manage projects from tender through to completion.
- Carry out project planning, coordination and technical design work.
- Liaise with customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with Park Gate’s internal engineering and production teams.
- Help ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Ensure completed work meets Park Gate standards and customer expectations.
- Maintain clear project information, documentation and communication throughout delivery.
About You
We welcome applications from people with relevant engineering experience as well as candidates who have transferable electrical skills and want to develop into a project-focused role.
You may be a good fit if you:
- Have experience or a strong interest in project engineering, project management or project planning.
- Have knowledge of electrical control systems.
- Have experience of industrial electrical systems — although this is not essential.
- Are a qualified electrician looking to broaden your knowledge of electrical controls and project engineering.
- Have knowledge of electrical CAD packages, or are willing to learn.
- Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Are organised and pay close attention to detail.
- Can manage priorities and communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Have a proactive, curious approach and enthusiasm for developing new skills.
Experience with PLC, HMI or SCADA programming would be advantageous, but it is not essential. We would also be interested in candidates who show the ability and willingness to develop these skills as part of the role.
