Contact Shaun Bell on 01228 552008. .
Park Gate’s specialist control panel and process development department have been appointed as an enrolled member of the System Integrator Partner Programme by the US visualisation and software company “Iconics”. ICONICS solutions are designed to improve productivity and reduce integration time and operating costs. Founded in 1986 in Massachusetts, ICONICS has 250,000 installations in over 60 countries worldwide.

Systems meet the demanding application challenges of a wide range of industries including automotive, food and beverage, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and utilities. Department manager Shaun Bell advised JUICE that “we have a lot of in-house experience of industry leading automation products like Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi and Schneider but we thought that for situations where the requirement was for a plant-wide integrated system involving Scada, HMI and PLC’s, the ICONICS offer could be the ideal platform on which to develop a project”. .

Staff Focus on…..

Gary Wilson - Power Tool Repair Engineer

Gary is one of Park Gate’s longest serving people having started at the business as an apprentice armature winder in 1973. After qualifying Gary migrated onto power tool repairs, working mainly with Bosch equipment but also covering Makita, DeWalt, Hitachi etc. Gary comments that “ many tools at the cheap end of the market are throw away but with expensive quality equipment repairs make sound financial sense. Part of my role is to advise clients what is worth repairing and what is not. Customers trust my judgement and so I get a lot of repeat business”.

Gary gets grinders, saws and all manner of drills in his workshop and he stocks and supplies a host of spare parts. He also carries out rewinds on smaller electro-magnetic devices like solenoids, coils and armatures. Workshop manager Donald Watt says “Gary works in a very specialised field and is one of the few people around with the skills and experience for this kind of work”. Away from work Gary is a keen Pool player and plays for Crown Botchergate in the Carlisle Super-Pool League. He is married to Pamela and they have two grown up children. For all your power tool repairs contact Gary on 01228 552 012.

They join 7 others who are at varying stages of their training. In addition to the 9 apprentices, Park Gate currently employ 32 people who have served their time with the company, alongside others who have had recognised apprenticeships at other reputable companies.

Cliff Climb

Park Gate Approved Electrician Cliff Millington has completed the “3 Peaks Challenge” of climbing the highest mountains on the UK mainland one after the other. Cliff was in a group of 20 people who scaled Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon on 1st/2nd July to raise over £3,000 for the Eden Valley Hospice. Well done Cliff!

Safety Leaflets

Company Health & Safety Policies can be lengthy documents that attempt to cover each and every aspect of H&S in great detail. Aware that this can make them less appealing Park Gate’s H&S specialist Jim Macdonald has worked with staff to produce a series of easy to read toolbox leaflets covering a number of common H&S areas.

At present these include working at height, use of power tools, workplace ill health and compliance with site rules. Jim says “the leaflets have been well received by staff, customers and H&S professionals due to their simple user friendly style and the practical advice that they give. In time we plan to extend the series to other appropriate areas .
